Snailing Home
Snailing Home is an evolving multidisciplinary collection exploring what it means to carry home within us.
The project began with a simple image: a snail carrying its home wherever it goes. For Helena Yasmin, this became a way of thinking about memory, migration, adoption, belonging and the invisible traces of the places we have lived, left and longed for.
Developed through her artistic practice and deepened by a research journey to the Philippines in 2026, Snailing Homeconsiders home not as a fixed place, but as something we continually carry, remember, lose, reconstruct and reimagine.
The collection brings together painting, textiles, artist books, zines, photography and moving image, music and performance, allowing the project to exist across different forms rather than within a single medium. Found materials, personal archives and fragments of memory are woven into the work, creating objects that feel part artwork, part document and part keepsake.
At its heart, Snailing Home is an exploration of where we come from, what we inherit, what we remember — and how we make somewhere feel like home.
